The Courage of the Submariner

Richard O’Kane and Eugene Fluckey both earned the Medal of Honor for their actions as US Navy submarine skippers in the Pacific during World War II. The Congressional Medal of Honor Society turned to us to tell their stories of courage and heroism.

This educational film on two of the most celebrated submarine captains in US Navy history involved a great deal of historical research and planning. The film describes the important and dangerous role that US submarines played in World War II and highlights the Medal of Honor actions of the USS Tang and USS Barb. Supporting the presentation is a detailed set of animated maps that show the theaters of operation and the tactical actions of the two submarines in 1944 and 1945.
