Mount Vernon Orientation Film

George Washington’s Mount Vernon turned to Wide Awake Films to produce a new film that would better orient its millions of visitors and provide a more expansive look at the history, venues, and legacy of George and Martha Washington’s Virginia home.

Wide Awake Films created beautiful 4K footage of the mansion, estate, gardens, distillery, and library and combined that with cutting-edge 3D animated maps to create a new film that can be viewed both on the estate and online. Mount Vernon worked closely with Mount Vernon’s staff and around its operating hours to film across the estate and inside many of the historic structures. The film earned a 2022 Gold Telly Award in the General Museums and Galleries (non-broadcast) category.

Douglas Bradburn, President and CEO of George Washington’s Mount Vernon

“Our goal for this new film was to provide our guests with the highest quality experience when visiting George Washington’s Mount Vernon. This prestigious [Gold Telly Award] signals that we succeeded. This innovative film provides our guests with a brief but in-depth overview of how to navigate the 180-acre property and its rich history so visitors can fully experience all that Mount Vernon has to offer.”
